Amelie 2001

The opening is conventional because it gives an aspect of what the film will be like; warm-hearted, fun, interesting.

- Montage of images is interesting because it gives a very matter-of-fact affect, which enroles in an interesting appeal.

- From the exposition we learn Amelies charcter to be michevious, warm, comedic, beautiful, yet she has an awful upbringing

- Non-digestic sound creates an atmosphere of unrealistic, magical, mystical, speed and excitment. The narrartor is also very matter-of-fact, comedic and fast paced (in french).

- I agree subtitles devalue the quality of enjoyment of film for non-french speaking audiences as you miss out on the colourful picture, but the french does give it a more romantic and exquisit feel.

- I think the opening is overall very affective - storyline created makes you want to watch on to see what she is like, because through the opening we never see Amelie speak.

Shots I would consider using in the trailer:

- See her older for the first time ( Amelie turns to camera, inquisitive look)
- Shot were Amelie holds up spoon (looks to camera)
- Shot were Amelie is on roof (Can see the back of Amelie, view of France)
- Ball hitting brick- then Amelie looks through the hole
